Leek Giant D`Inverno Seeds
Info: The leek Giant D`Inverno is a late-maturing and cold-resistant variety from Italy that is also suitable for winter harvesting. Giant D`Inverno forms long, white, large, cylindrical stems with a slightly thickened stem base and broad, dark green leaves.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow January to February under glass or March and April outdoors. Sow the seed thinly, 1.5cm deep in drills 30 cm apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Transplant when plants are large enough to handle to 25 - 30 cm apart. During the growth, continue to earth up so that as much of the leek as possible stays white. When the leek has reached a diameter of 3 cm it is ready to harvest.
