Onion Shallot Zebrune Seeds
Info: Shallot `Zebrune` is a very productive shallot that produces elongated brown bulbs with a slight pink tinge. It is one of the few seed-producing shallot varieties. The bulbs are mature when the foliage turns brown and dries up, but of course can be harvested for fresh consumption before that. Shallots are traditionally prized in French cuisine for their delicate sweet and spicy flavour.
Sowing & cultivation: The sowing can take place from March to April thinly in rows 25 cm apart. The seeds should be covered with earth in approx. 2-fold seed starch, well pressed and moist. After germination the seedlings can be separated to 15 x 25 cm. The sowing should take place on a loose, nutrient-rich soil which is not pre-fertilized. The harvest can take place from August.
