Leek Jolant Seeds
Info: Leek `Jolant` is a very early variety with a high density stem and a mild flavour. It grows vigorously and can be used for mini-veg or grown on to harvest from August onwards. It is delicious when sliced, boiled and covered in cheese sauce for a tasty addition to a roast dinner.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow January to February under glass or March and April outdoors. Sow the seed thinly, 1.5cm deep in drills 30 cm apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Transplant when plants are large enough to handle to 25 - 30 cm apart. During the growth, continue to earth up so that as much of the leek as possible stays white. When the leek has reached a diameter of 3 cm it is ready to harvest.
