Squash Marina Di Chioggia Seeds
Info: Squash `Marina di Chioggia` is an Italian heirloom that produces medium size, flattened globe shaped fruits with knobbly grey-green skin that can reach up to 5 kg. Its flesh is yellow-orange and of delightful sweet flavour which improves after storage. Its meaty and sweet texture has also made this pumpkin popular as a filling for ravioli and for making gnocchi or grilled with olive oil by the bargemen and served as a whole wedge. A sweet and savory delight, for sure!
Sowing & cultivation: Pumpkin plants need a lot of space as creeping plants and a good nutrient supply. The soil should therefore be profound and nutritious. From mid-May can be sown directly into the open field. Depending on the variety a plant needs up to 2m² of space. Abundant irrigation is very important, especially in the beginning. A typical pumpkin problem are snails. Try as protection a thick ring of sawdust around the young plant. It should be fertilized with a few horns, four weeks later with full fertilizer. The harvest begins in September and lasts until the frost.
