Pumpkin Queensland Blue Seeds
Info: Squash `Queensland Blue` is an Australian variety and is simply beautiful and tasty. It has an extraordinary appearance: turban-shaped, deep ribbed fruits with a dark grey-green, almost bluish colour. The flesh is deep golden, firm and thick and both sweet and fine flavoured. It is suitable for cooking, roasting, grilling and soups. The fruits reach a weight of 3 to 5 kg and can be stored very well.
Sowing & cultivation: Pumpkin plants need a lot of space as creeping plants and a good nutrient supply. The soil should therefore be profound and nutritious. From mid-May can be sown directly into the open field. Depending on the variety a plant needs up to 2m² of space. Abundant irrigation is very important, especially in the beginning. A typical pumpkin problem are snails. Try as protection a thick ring of sawdust around the young plant. It should be fertilized with a few horns, four weeks later with full fertilizer. The harvest begins in September and lasts until the frost.
