Squash Sweet Mama Seeds

Info: Squash Sweet Mama is a popular variety in the USA and Japan. Sweet Mama is a flat round squash of the Hokkaido type, but with a dark green skin, slightly ribbed and a firm, strong yellow flesh. It has a good, nutty taste and is suitable for soups, puree, baked slices and also for desserts. The fruits are easy to store and the compact plants grow bushy with short tendrils.

Sowing & cultivation: Pumpkin plants need a lot of space as creeping plants and a good nutrient supply. The soil should therefore be profound and nutritious. From mid-May can be sown directly into the open field. Depending on the variety a plant needs up to 2m² of space. Abundant irrigation is very important, especially in the beginning. A typical pumpkin problem are snails. Try as protection a thick ring of sawdust around the young plant. It should be fertilized with a few horns, four weeks later with full fertilizer. The harvest begins in September and lasts until the frost.
