Liquorice Medaglie

If one believes the Enciclopedia Britannica, the best liquorice grows in Calabria. Its botanical name is "Glycyrrhiza glabra" (in English sweet root or liquorice). In autumn the roots are harvested, from which the Amarelli family produces since the 18th century the syrup as the basic ingredient for the cult pastilles from Calabria. The only ingredient is pure liquorice extract.

Liquorice pieces "Spezzata" are delivered in a can, which is decorated by some of the awards and medals obtained in the past centuries.
